We have spent the last 6 days here at Shiga Kogen, Japan's largest snow resort. This resort is made up of 21 ski areas with 70 lifting devices form rope tows to gondalas. So you can see that it is massive and we have skied it all. This resort gets groomed everyday with some selected slopes left "unpressed", as the signs say. However, some days there has been so much snow that we havn't had to go too far for the powder.
The resort has been busy with many Japanese holiday makers. Not too many non Japanese at this stage. I have been very impressed with the fashions on the hill. Bright colours with combinations of pattens and solids in snow jackets and ski pants. I have seen quite a few Roxy chicks and I did see a snowboarder in a yellow onsie with Quiksilver on the back. Funny I havn't seen that garment in the range lately! We are on the move today, next stop Sun Peaks, Canada. Thank you Japan for your friendly welcome and great powder!
