Filmed in digital, high definition, and 16mm formats, Falling Forward showcases the spectacular Jackson Hole area including the Teton, Gros Ventre, Wind River, and Snake River mountain ranges like you’ve never seen before. The Falling Forward trailer recently won Best-line at the 2005 Cold Smoke Awards in Bozeman, Montana. This is the first of much acclaimed to be had in the coming year as “F2” takes the centre stage of big mountain descents.
Downhill skiing sensations Seth Morrison, Jay Quinlan, Shane McConkey, and CR Johnson pull out their best tricks in FOCUSED, a film produced by the acclaimed Matchstick Production team. Filmed throughout the winter months of 2003, FOCUSED was shot from helicopters and snowmobiles at some of the most luxurious ski resorts and slopes in the world.
Mack Dawg Productions is so good at making great snowboard videos that they have put out three movies (see also Follow Me Around and Jumping with Jussi) this year including the awesome People DVD. If you were a fan of KidsKnow (Love/Hate) and Neoproto (Neoproto) films, you will instantly recognize that same look and feel with People. That's because Justin Eeles and Pierre Minhondo were hired by MDP to come up with a snowboard movie that was a little outside of the normal MDP box of superstar riders, super-clean slo-mo and giant snow features. The end result is an amazing movie that is maybe a little more artsy, but with equally good snowboarding. People sees shredders like Stephen Duke, Pat McCarthy and Jordan Mendenhall seek and destroy kinked rails, burly ledges and gnarly stumps. Other desired terrain includes off-limits dams and knee-popping drops. Top shredder Mitch Nelson proves that you don't need a trip to Alaska or a helicopter to get the most out of snowboarding; a rental car, a few bros and a lot of imagination can turn any spot into a destination. Not being strangers to mountainous terrain the People crew show that it's not all about parking garages and pavement by throwing down in real live powder. Serenading these guys are the sweet sounds of Portastatic, Ming and Ping, and the Ramones. The soundtrack is a real treat if you, like me, can only handle so much rap with your snow shred flicks.

Matchstick Productions is offering two ski movies for the price of one this year. On the DVD, the viewer will have the option of viewing the theatrical release that you can see on tour, plus there will be another section devoted entirely to the skiers. Each skier will individually edit their part, that way the viewer can see all the shots the skier worked on over the year, edited in his or her own unique style. So in reality, buying the DVD will be like buying two movies for the price of one. The theatrical version of Hit List will be more location based, answering the most frequently asked ski movie question, Where’s that? A big part of skiing is the discovery of places and Matchstick Productions is excited to share their exploration of the globe. Red Bull energy drink and Matchstick Productions teamed up and chartered a 110-foot research vessel decked out with a private helicopter and travel up the coast of British Columbia in search of first descents. The results are mind-blowing! The trip included World Cup skier Daron Rahlves, Skier of the Year Mark Abma, and big mountain guru Chris Davenport. The zone they discovered was epic and so is the footage that was produced.
The Teddybear gang sets themselves apart from the beginning by delivering a ski film that is truly out of the box, a new style with a fresh look at insane action. Legendary film maker Kris Ostness (Wind-Up Films/Flying Circus) has teamed up with new school film maker Henrik Rostrup (Push Films/Not Another Ski Movie) to form the company Teddybear Crisis. The crew revisits the classic Utah gaps that Ostness/Wind-Up Films pioneered years ago and discovers a few new ones on the way. Upper/Lower Flagstaff and Pyramid are all mandatory 90 foot gaps but pale to Tanner Hall hitting 120 foot Chad's Gap skiing backwards at 53mph and stomping a switch 900! Lots of travel, backcountry gaps and booters, supersized parks, gaps over half pipes, free-skiing in the Alps, Alaska, and Utah. Teddybear Crisis has it all in a well rounded movie.
