CARING FOR YOUR SKIS AND SNOWBOARD
Most Equipment comes ready-to-use with a good layer of wax. This is enough for a few weeks of use, depending on conditions, after which you should consider either a tuning service 2 or 3.
Untended Ski and Snowboard bases can dry out and shrink in summer. Also a layer of rust can often build up on the edges of your equipment.
Giving them a summer wax at the end of your trip, after having them tuned, will help preserve them over the hot summer months.
This means that a thick layer of hot wax is applied and ironed in, let to dry and left without scraping back. This prevents the bases from drying out and won't allow rust to form on the edges. We then remove this (free of charge) next time you head to the mountains
Alternatively, if you're confident, you could give the bases a good scraping, with a solid piece of plastic and you're ready to go.
When you take your skis or snowboard into the shop, ask about tuning products and how to use them. The staff in the equipment department will be happy to talk you through it. Our comprehensive range is a great place to look for essentials for maintaining your equipment.
